Zhang Zhuang or "standing like a tree," is a foundational internal martial arts (Qigong/Tai Chi) practice involving standing in specific, relaxed, and aligned postures. It acts as a stamding meditation to build intense inner energy (qi), improve posture, enhance body awareness, and increase internal strength by holding postures for several minutes, often focusing on relaxed breathing and structure.
Concentrating on the first four energies of Tai Chi (peng, liu, jie, an), this simple form is a good intro to Chen style
Another wonderful form, created by Chen XIaowong
Created in 1958, a condensation of the Yang 108 form. Simple to learn, a lifetime to master.
